We had a great experience in Villa Kalisha. The location is truly amazing and gives you a great opportunity to encounter all the culture of a true Balinese experience.  The staff are lovely and happy to arrange anything you like. Doug the driver is a great guy and worth spending time to get to know.  We are sad to be leaving but certainly aim to come back.

Wonderful location + great weather, and fantastic staff. The villa is all we expected and more. The location is superb, the rooms spacious + the warm Balinese hospitality exudes from every corner of this special place. Nyos did a great job of making us feel welcome, as did Made with her family style cooking. The “Quiet Achiever” of the staff who worked tirelessly to make us feel welcome was also a truly refreshing spirit.

The staff at the villa have set a standard of service that exceeded our expectations and more. They made us feel like VIPs from the day we arrived to the day we left. The villa itself was magnificent and the views and sounds majestic. Some of us felt the pool maybe could have been heated, but the rest enjoyed a brisk swim when the heat rose. The driver Polos was friendly and informative and no journey was too little or too much. We hope to return one day. Many thanks again and best wishes.

After the pace of Singapore it was great to then unwind in this wonderfully natural environment. The staff, the drivers and village people were all very friendly to us and we are sorry to return to Perth so soon. The cooking was excellent. The villa was clean and comfortable. The pool was cool, but refreshing. We really appreciated being included and treated like old friends. We look forward to visiting again, and hope our friends here are healthy and prospering.

After Seminyak’s crowd, we’ve spent 3 peaceful days amongst amazing nature. We enjoyed how the people from the village welcomed us, for the “Ceremony of Steel”. The cook was excellent, and we appreciated the kindness and warmness of the staff. The house would not be as pleasant as it is. At last the genuine Balinese way of life!

The staff is the richest part of the stay. We could really live a bit of the village life with them. They took us with them to ceremonies, and to the surrounding temples through the rice fields, and both kids and adults enjoyed it a lot. A huge thanks to Made, Nyos & Wayan (s).

Thank you for a fantastic Bali jungle experience. We especially enjoyed the service and very friendly atmosphere, which Nyos, Made, Wayan and Wayan provided. We came as a family to see Balinese culture, and were very happy with our stay at the villa. Your staff were extremely gracious and helpful. Our stay wouldn’t have been the same without them!!

Absolutely fantastic villa and service. The staff were exceptional – 5 star quality!! Extremely relaxing place, wonderful views, and great meals prepared by Nyos and Made. The two things that could be improved are 1) Bigger TV 2) Heated swimming pool. Otherwise we will definitely be returning in the near future.

OWNER COMMENT: We have now purchased a new and much larger LCD screen TV. It is unfortunately not practical to provide heating to the swimming pool; however we are investigating the installation of a heated outdoor Jacuzzi with views over the gorge and hope to add one soon!

We spent a wonderful time here in the jungle! The view is exceptional and the villa is nicely furnished. The food was excellent and the staff is extremely nice and helpful. Thank you very much for the great moments we have to remember in this villa.

Well we spent 9 days of nightmare! The villa is NOT luxury at all! So many problems. We showed Nyos all the issues of the villa (we saw a rat in the kitchen, the villa is dirty: walls, curtains; towels; big leaking problems when it rains, the staff kitchen is AWFUL). Everything must be changed. The TV is old and small! The staff are nice, but NOT professional!

OWNER COMMENT: We have a policy to try and publish all our guests comments, and clearly we were very distressed to receive these views from a guest. We work extremely hard to try and meet all our guests’ needs, and are very sorry that we clearly did not manage to do so for these guests. As a result of the comments however we have already replaced the TV, and also the staff fridge. We have spoken with the staff who do confirm that a small mouse was seen in the villa for the first and only time during the stay of these guests, and was caught shortly afterwards and we have taken steps to make sure this does not happen again. We take cleanliness and food hygiene extremely seriously and regularly and personally inspect the villa. There is however always room for improvement, and following these comments we have again reviewed our procedures and implemented further changes. As the guests mentioned the villa also suffered some water damage due to exceptionally heavy rains during their stay. We have already replaced all the curtains, and have recovered the entire roof and yet again enlarged the guttering so that such water damage should not happen again. Again our apologies to these guests that their stay was not to the standard they expected.

I have to add however that despite their complaints, these guests actually chose to stay the entire 9 days of their holiday at Villa Kalisha and the staff tell us that they only raised a complaint on the 7th day of their trip when the rains occurred. They then contacted us immediately after their stay and threatened to destroy our business by posting negative reviews of Villa Kalisha if we failed to give them a 100% refund of the price of their holiday. –August 2009

Thank you Made & Nyos for a wonderful few days here at Villa Kalisha! “Treehouse” afternoons with relaxing, playing cards and superb food has made our stay sensational! Ubud has great cafes, excellent restaurants and incredible shopping! Taro Elephant Park + mountain biking was great for the kids and coming back over the paddies to afternoon sun on the magnificent trees was wonderful! Pool cool, but beautiful and refreshing. The sounds of the night while lying under net curtains is an experience. Very relaxing! We enjoyed Talia Vashti by the sea, but the quality of furnishings and views and food make Kalisha the winner!!!! Will return.

Villa Kalisha was our very own Nirvana – heaven on earth! We enjoyed everything about our week here and have never felt so relaxed and content! Made, Ketut and all the staff have given us superb service and delicious food. The villa itself is superb and the pool and terrace perfect for “chilling out” – the garden is beautiful and well kept – it’s given us many ideas for our own home. We loved observing the real Bali in the village, especially the preparations for the upcoming cremation which was fascinating and having Ketut and Made explain everything has really enriched our experience. We had an amazing honeymoon at Villa Kalisha. Stunning location; beautiful views; spacious rooms; open air bathroom are just some of the elements that made our stay so memorable! We want to say a BIG thank you to the friendly staff. Their warm manner and eagerness to tend to our every need, sometimes even going out of their way meant that the service that we received was beyond expectations. The presence of the staff was very reassuring, at the same time we were always able to enjoy our privacy. Made’s cooking was exquisite which meant we chose to eat at the villa more often than restaurants! We would recommend that she offers cooking classes to the guests at the villa in future if they want to learn Balinese cuisine! To summarise, hospitable staff in a stunning villa, couldn’t ask for more! Thanks. 9/10 – if heated pool would give 10/10. We were very pleased with the staff that we invited them all to dinner in Warung Enak and had a lovely time! This is the least we could do.

We had a very warm welcome and orientation, this was followed by a wonderful week at Villa Kalisha. The staff were always helpful and friendly and the meals delicious. We enjoyed walking to the village and had to be rescued during a large rain shower by Nyos who brought us umbrellas – he was our hero! The villa, pool and deck are amazing, not to mention the beautiful view and surroundings. Paradise! Thank you.

Nyos and the rest of the staff were brilliant, they really made the stay. They were able to help with everything we needed, including getting rid of some mighty big spiders! They decorated the deck for the wedding so that it looked absolutely fantastic and very romantic. The villa itself is in a lovely location and very comfortable. The food was lovely and Made made the best Lumpia I have ever tasted. She really is a brilliant cook!

We had a wonderful time in a beautiful environment, enhanced by warm, friendly and efficient service. The proximity to the local villages offers many possibilities to work cooperatively to develop trekking options and to involve tourists and guests at the stunning Villa Kalisha in local village ceremonies, thereby greatly enhancing the travel experience and realizing the potential of pristine subsistence farming of almost medieval authenticity. We were fortunate to have the opportunity to befriend the excellent staff at Villa Kalisha and would readily return in the hope that the tourism potential of this halcyon, rustic region – Bali’s Tuscany- might be explored and developed by the time of our next visit. Thank you for making this very special property available for our enjoyment.
